Gareth attended school in Monaghan and later gained a place to study Visual Communication at N.C.A.D. Graduating in 2000 with a honours degree.

In 2003 he was accepted to study for a Higher National Diploma in Architectural Stonemasonry & Conservation at Weymouth College in Dorset, U.K. After completion of the course he gained work on the restoration project for St. Paul's Cathedral in London. Gareth was part of a team of stonemasons and stone carvers employed by the Cathedral's administration who helped restore the Portland limestone exterior of the building in time for its 300th year anniversary in 2011.

From 2011 until 2019 he has worked as a self employed stone carver restoring many prestigious buildings in London as well as accepting private commissions for carved decorative pieces in stone. Gareth returned home to Ireland in 2019 to concentrate on architectural stone carving and producing sculptural work, establishing a workshop close to the Marina in Cork city.
